First time in the Comicverse? Well not don't worry, I'm sure you will fit in just fine. And if you don't, I always have my golden lasso handy. Here's some rules for you all to live by, ensuring that we can all co-exist in harmony - villain, hero, DC or Marvel.
1. Don't be a dick.
No really... dickishness is the worst. Okay, okay, if you want to act like a dick, at least be in character and/or be funny. But don't just be a dick - not to me, not to my co-hosts, well, maybe Charles but that is absolutely it. If we have screwed something up and you're brave enough to be the one to come forward and tell us, do it nicely. We didn't deliberately screw shit up to mess with you - although it does cross our minds sometimes. This is a cover-all for any dickish behaviour that I have not mentioned below. Don't worry, if you're being a dick I will let you know.
2. Don't be dead.
This game is non-live which means you never have to be at the board at any particular time of day. Ever. there will be no live challenges, and pre-voting is always allowed. However, you do need to log in each day and keep in touch. Unexplained absences of 48 hours or more and well... we will assume you are dead and remove you from the game. When? At the point of least impact for the hosts, the players and the Comicverse in general. And unlike in comics, you don't get to just keep coming back from the dead. Dead is dead. What can I say, it's a hard life being a comic book character.
3. It's non-live.
Yeah, I know I already mentioned that. But for those of you unfamiliar with the concept, it's a game-style designed for people who have lives. So just because someone doesn't log in within an hour or two of you logging in, that doesn't make them inactive. Try leaving them a message and having a long distance conversation. This game is literally spread across the entire planet, so stretch your fingers and toes and make contact with people outside your usual timezone. Some of my best game relationships have been with people I barely made live contact with at all.
4. It's closed ID.
Don't even think about who is whom. As far as we all know, we are superheroes and super villains out to take over the comicverse. If you assume that much about everyone you should be fine. Imagining real people behind those Comictars will just ruin them anyway. If you accidentally stab your best buddy in the back because you didn't know it was him, he will get over it. Or else he is not your best buddy. Just ask Charles But don't talk about any other games currently in progress anywhere, just in case a host is playing one somewhere. And don't talk about other games in public at all - even past ones. We were all just born right here and now in the Comicverse. Nothing has ever happened before.
5. Don't cheat.
This comes under don't be a dick, but it's more explicit. Do your own work - don't get anyone else to help you out. Don't use bots or posting machines - I mean, you're super heroes and super villains - what on earth can a bot do that you can't? Don't discuss challenges where you have been told not to. If you suspect an idea you have had could be considered cheating, then it probably could be. Ask in your confessional first. We can be tagged with the @ command on the reply and fast reply windows. It's very easy if you use it that way. I am @ admin without the space, but I am not a slave to the board either. So tag your local ssheriffif I am not around - which will be often. Failing that, leave a question and we'll get to it when we can. You will not need a host to assist you in any challenges.
6. Remember to vote.
Self votes will be issued to non voters and they will accumulate with each offence until I grab you and throw you out of the game for having less ability to write on a parchment than Brandon Hantz himself. Votes can be changed up until the deadline, but once all votes are in, they become immediately FINAL.
7. Keep it at the board.
All game related conversations need to happen on this board for full transparency. Don't engage in game chatter with the hosts outside of the boards, do it here. That doesn't mean you can't talk to the hosts when you leave the comicverse, of course you can. Just don't talk about anything going on in here and we will be fine. This is a self contained bubble.
8. Have fun.
The sheep stations awards have already left the building so make sure you enjoy yourself. Don't make me get my lasso out.
